AvantGarde themes have always had BIG, colourful buttons. User feedback has shown that this what users love most about my browser theme. The latest version of AvantGarde uses bigger icons than ever (48px X 48px), and looks fantastic on the increasingly high-resolution displays we are now used to.

But not every screen needs 48 pixels worth of button. On portable computers, screen resolution is often lower, and users may find that they do not have pixels to spare. Never fear - there is an easy solution, and you can still use the web's most colourful (and practical) theme for Firefox.

1. Click on the Firefox button in the top left corner of the window. Put your mouse over Options and then click Toolbar Layout.... (see pic above) If you completed this fine, skip to step 3. If this doesn't make sense, go to step 2.
2. If you can't see a Firefox button, it could be because you've got the menu bar enabled instead. That's cool too. Instead of step 1, just click View, then put your mouse over Toolbars, then click Customise...
3. The Customise Toolbar window should have appeared. In this window, you can drag elements of Firefox's user interface around, show and hide things (by dragging them in and out of the Customise Toolbar window)... but most importantly of all, you can change the icon (button) size. Just tick the box which relates to "Use Small Icons". It's highlighted with a red circle in the picture below.
4. Presto! You should now have small and sleek AvantGarde buttons for your lower resolution display. Please note that you may need to restart Firefox (just close and open it again) for the effect to work.
